Film Fundraiser: Your donations will go towards finishing the feature-length film. Thank you!
We need your help to finish the feature-length version of our award winning short documentary ON THE GRIND so we can bring the film to theaters. Consider making a donation today!
What can you expect in the feature-length version?
"On The Grind" follows a mother’s journey for justice and brings light to a group of skaters who are elevating themselves out of poverty with their passion of skateboarding. This documentary will prove to be an artifact of the urban skate phenomenon, while providing hope for a community struggling to keep its youth from the undertow of gang-violence. Skateboarding isn't some suburban sport, it's a means of survival…
Like “Hoop Dreams,” I spent a great deal of time with the skaters, and followed them over the course of six years to see if they would achieve their goals of going pro. In the process, I discovered a deeper story of brotherhood that was so powerful--it changed my life. Hopefully, the world will get to experience something special through the story of some lost boys who’ve found family and refuge in skateboarding.
I made this film for my cousin who has spent his entire adult-life behind bars and for all of the at-risk youth who are heading in the same direction. I wanted to make a film that I wish had existed when I was 14-years-old and looking for my niche in a confusing world. A film I could relate to, but most importantly, a film that could show me how everyone is important and how every life is valuable, no matter where you’re from or how society labels you.
How can I help produce the film?
